Data Deletion Instructions
Last updated: 21 October 2026
You can ask Switchgear, operated by Brivo Synaptics, to delete the personal data we hold about you. This page explains how. It applies to data from WhatsApp, SMS, email, push notifications, USSD and verification services, and to Switchgear business accounts.
Switchgear does not use Facebook Login and does not collect data from your Facebook profile. If you messaged a business on WhatsApp, we hold only what that conversation involved: your phone number, WhatsApp profile name, the messages and their delivery status.
If a business contacted you through Switchgear
- To stop messages: reply with the opt-out word in the message (for example STOP), or block the sender. Your opt-out is recorded and enforced on every later send.
- To delete your data: email brivosynaptics@gmail.com with the subject "Data deletion request". Include:
- the phone number, email address or WhatsApp number the messages were sent to;
- the name of the business that contacted you, if you know it.
- We may ask you to confirm you control that number or address, for example by replying to a one-time code. We never ask for passwords.
If you have a Switchgear business account
The account owner can email brivosynaptics@gmail.com from the address on the account, with the subject "Account deletion request" and the business name. We close the account and delete its data as described below.
What happens next
- We confirm receipt within 5 working days and complete the request within 30 days.
- We delete or anonymise your phone number or email, message content, delivery records, inbound messages and verification evidence linked to you.
- We keep a minimal record that you asked not to be contacted (as a one-way hash of your number or address), so that your opt-out keeps working. We also keep what the law requires us to keep, such as tax and billing records for business accounts, for as long as it requires.
- If your data is held for a business, we tell that business, which is responsible for deleting any copies in its own systems.
- Providers that delivered your messages, such as Meta for WhatsApp or your mobile network, keep their own records under their own policies.
- We email you when deletion is complete.
More detail is in our Privacy Policy. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your request, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner of Zambia.
